"If you like good Texas music, you're gonna love The Western Swingers."

—Rodney Crowell, songwriting great, Sony recording artist

John England & the Western Swingers is a six piece band based in Nashville, TN, which plays the lively, happy music called Western Swing. Western Swing originally developed in Texas and Oklahoma during the 1930's. With fiddle, steel guitar, piano, electric guitar, bass, and drums, it's music for dancing and listening, and combines the down-home quality of country music with the sophistication and improvisation of hot jazz.

The group has played their lively music at Nashville's Robert's Western World every Monday since July of 2001. The Swingers can also boast of appearances at New York's Lincoln Center, the Grand Ole Opry, the "Midnight Jamboree", and many concerts and private events in the mid-South area. The band has also been a featured part of the Rockettes Christmas Show for 5 years, and has been profiled by Downbeat magazine, the Nashville Tennessean, and other print media.

Every Monday at Robert's Western World (416 Broadway, Nashville, TN, 244-9552) there's no cover, no minimum, food, a dance floor, and Good Music! Minors are welcome if accompanied by their parents to listen or dance to John England & the Western Swingers. IF YOU’RE PLANNING TO COME DOWN, BE SURE TO CALL ROBERT’S TO CONFIRM OUR BOOKING. ONCE IN A VERY GREAT WHILE, WE MAY BE OUT FOR ANOTHER GIG, OR PLAY A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TIME.

According to Esquire Magazine, Robert's is one of the 50 Best Bars in America.

Our current schedule is posted at www.myspace.com/westernswingers.

Our new CD, Thanks a Lot, was recently named "2005 Album of the Year" on the USA's best Western Swing chart (swinginwest.com), and "Swinging Broadway" received a similar honor for 2003. Cuts from both albums are currently receiving radio airplay in places like New Zealand, Germany, Alaska & France, but if you can't tune in those stations, you'd better buy your own copy!
